Our Story

How we approach a deck job

We build, repair and refinish decks for homeowners in and around Hollywood, FL. Most of the people who call us aren't looking for a company history, they're looking at a deck that's cupping, sagging or just past its life and want to know what it'll take to fix it or replace it.

If you're on this page, there's a good chance a board gave way underfoot, or the railing's gotten loose enough to worry you, or the whole thing looks tired next to a house you've otherwise kept up. We pull the decking to check the joists and ledger board before we quote anything, because a new set of boards over rotten framing doesn't solve the actual problem. What we replace and what we leave alone depends on what we find under there, not on selling you the biggest job possible.

Why Choose Us

What you get when you hire us

None of this is complicated. It is mostly just doing what we said we would do.

Licensed & Insured

Certificates of insurance are available on request before we start any job. That protects you if something goes wrong on your property while we're working.

Permits Pulled Right

Structural decks in Broward County require a permit and an inspection, and we handle that paperwork instead of leaving it to you. Skipping it can cause problems later when you go to sell the house.

Clean Job Site

Sawdust, old screws and cut-off lumber get cleared before we leave, not left in a pile for the weekend. A deck project shouldn't turn your yard into a construction site for weeks.

Written Quotes

The quote breaks down decking, framing lumber, fasteners and railing separately, so you can see where the money goes. No verbal estimates that change once the invoice shows up.

On-Time Scheduling

Florida rain can push a schedule back a day or two, and if that happens we call before you notice we're not there. We'd rather tell you upfront than leave you guessing.

Material Options

Some homeowners want the lower cost of pressure-treated pine and don't mind restaining it every couple of years. Others want composite decking that costs more upfront but doesn't rot or need sealing.

Common Questions

Things people ask us

Questions about who's doing the work.

How long have you been building decks?
Genesis Deck Solutions has built and repaired decks for homeowners across Hollywood, FL and the surrounding area, working on everything from small repairs to full custom builds. Experience details and licensing information are available on request when getting a quote.
Do you use your own crew or subcontractors?
Deck framing, decking installation and railings are handled by the same crew rather than being farmed out to different subcontractors. That keeps one team accountable for the whole job instead of passing problems between trades.
Can I see photos of decks you've built before?
Photos of past deck installations, repairs and staining jobs can be shared during a quote or consultation. Seeing similar work, especially on framing and railing details, helps set expectations for the new project.
Why choose a smaller deck builder instead of a large contracting company?
A smaller deck builder often means the person quoting the job is the same person overseeing the framing and final walkthrough. That tends to mean fewer miscommunications between what got promised and what actually gets built.
Where is Genesis Deck Solutions based?
Genesis Deck Solutions is based in Hollywood, FL and works throughout the surrounding Broward County towns. Being local means shorter response times for repairs and easier follow-up visits after a job wraps up.
How far in advance do I need to book a deck project?
Booking two to four weeks ahead is typical for a new deck build, mostly due to permit turnaround rather than crew availability. Repairs and staining jobs can often be scheduled sooner.
Who cleans up the job site after the deck is finished?
The crew clears cut-off lumber, old decking, packaging and fasteners from the yard before leaving each day, not just at the end of the project. Dumpster or haul-away arrangements for a full deck demolition get worked out ahead of time.
What happens if something on my property gets damaged during construction?
Liability insurance covers accidental damage to landscaping, fencing or other parts of the property during deck construction. Concerns get addressed directly rather than left for the homeowner to chase down afterward.
Will you finish a deck another contractor left half-done?
Picking up a deck project that another contractor started or abandoned is something Genesis Deck Solutions will take on, after checking what framing and footings are already in place. Existing work gets inspected first, since it has to meet code before anything new gets built on top of it.
How can I tell the deck framing was actually done correctly?
Properly done deck framing has joist hangers rated for the load, a ledger board bolted and flashed against the house, and footings set below grade to the depth local code requires. Asking to see the framing before the decking boards go down, or requesting photos during construction, is a reasonable way to check.
